Founded in June 2005, Post Oil Solutions is a non-profit, community organizing project whose mission is “to empower the people of the Central Connecticut River Valley bioregion to develop sustainable, collaborative, and socially just communities leading to a self-sufficient post petroleum society.” Though we’ve been involved with a variety of projects, our principal focus is building a community-based food system in our region. Our major efforts to advance this goal include the founding of

• Several community gardens
• Wilmington CSA
• Brattleboro Winter Farmers’ Market
• Townshend Common Farmers’ Market
• Neighborhood Markets in Brattleboro
• Windham County gleaning project of the Vermont Food Bank
• Farm at the School for International Training
• (Re)learning to Feed Ourselves workshops (gardening, food preservation & winter storage, cooking, backyard animal raising)
• Annual No Gardener Left Behind Expo in the Spring
• Windham County Farm to School Program
• Four county Great Falls Food Hub project.

We also lend support to grassroots initiatives (like the Brattleboro Time Trade, Transition Town Brattleboro), and have initiated Community Conversations in Brattleboro, Townshend, and Bellows Falls. Finally, we provide education about energy descent and climate change through forums, speakers, and workshops, as well as a variety of resources through our website and our film lending library.
